No other marine transmission in the world shifts as fast and smooth as the Twin Disc QuickShift.

 



 
It provides amazing slow speed control at five knots or less. With its patented, completely internal and integrated clutch actuating system, QuickShift instantly delivers cushioned torque to the driveline when shifting from neutral to anywhere from full ahead to full reverse. It eliminates driveline shock while optimizing power to the driveshaft. And all this happens literally within milliseconds.  So you have a steep but smooth power curve, whether you go full out or just nudge the throttle.

Smooth, shockless shifts and instant power to the propeller.

It's difficult for a powerful diesel vessel to go very slowly with a conventional transmission. Reducing engine rpms to get the vessel speed below five knots could stall the engine. Not so with QuickShift. It regulates engine torque at extremely low speeds to slow propeller speed down to approximately 100 even 50 rpms - allowing you to maneuver at less than 5 knots and even accomplish zero boat speed. QuickShift is truly the only slow speed system that can be effectively used for docking and maneuvering. Docking under calm conditions can be a challenge with a conventional transmission. In the time it takes to shift from forward to reverse, boats traveling five knots can drift up to 13 feet. It enhances safety, comfort, enjoyment and driveline protection.

2.               TWIN DISC EC 300 POWER COMMANDER for control of your engine(s) and transmission(s)

 

BENEFIT WITH UNIQUE CONTROL MODES

 

Power Commander with Dual Lever for command both marine engines and marine gearboxes. High quality combined with easy installation, high RFI protection and unique 3 different working modes, only available for MGX Quick Shift Marine Gearboxes. Easy switch from mode to mode by turning a knob. Up to 5 control stations possibility on one boat.

 

Express Mode - Unique combination of trolling on low motor rpm with passage to full power transmission with one lever movement.  Each lever lets you instantaneously and shocklessly shift from forward to reverse and control prop speed down to 50 rpm while maintaining most efficient rpm.

Troll Mode - This mode allows the operation of the vessel at low speed by means of a controlled slipping clutch with the engine speed fixed, and the Lever controlling the propeller speed.

Cruise Mode - Normal, usually manner of sailing, but very quick and soft engagement.

3.               TWIN DISC BCS PACKAGE

 

SHAFTLINE WITH PROPELLERS, BOW THRUSTERS, RUDDERS AND HYDRAULIC STEERING SYSTEM

 

Twin Disc Rolla stainless steel five-blade NiBrAl propellers designed for high performance in range from 16 inches to 10 feets in diameter. Each hydrodynamic analyzed and engineered.

Wide choice of bow and stern thruster in BCS range, both electric and hydraulic, large range of applications up to 40m of length. For application bigger than 18 m, or having longer working cycle or where much higher thrust is required, Twin Disc suggests the installation of a hydraulic system which takes necessary power from the main engine. Every hydraulic thruster system must be designed and sized specifically for individual application.

 

A standard steering system in its basic is composed by elements: hydraulic helm pump, hydraulic cylinder, rigid and flexible hoses, can have also hydraulic helm pumps for additional control stations, auto pilot power units other accessories. Basis of steering system is very simple; by turning the steering wheel in one direction oil flow goes from the helm pump to the steering cylinder. This flow, which enters the cylinder, move the piston, as well as the rod connected to the tiller arm, in order to allow the rudder to rotate. Oil displaced from the opposite side of the cylinder flows back to the helm pump. By rotating the rudder in the opposite rotation, simply turn the helm pump the other way. The steering system determines boat maneuverability, easy of control and reliability.

4.               TWIN DISC EXPRESS JOYSTICK SYSTEM (EJS)

 

„JOYSTIC STEERING TAKES THE STRESS OUT OF DOCKING AND LOW SPEED MANOEUVRING”.

The Twin Disc Express Joystic System (EJS) is designed for docking and slow speed maneuvering of diesel powered, conventional drivelines with propeller. With easy fingertip movements you control direction and speed instantaneously and intuitively with no lagging, lurching or clucking. All thanks to Quick Shift transmission and EC300 control technology EJS smoothly and simultaneously actuates and controls engines, transmissions and thrusters. You can effortlessly move the boat in any direction and even pivot it on its own axis; you can move the boat diagonally or slip it straight sideways. You can even rotate 360° without moving you center boat.

The Twin Disc system simultaneously engages the engines, gearboxes and thrusters to maneuver the boat in any direction instantaneously, with no lag time. The key is Twin Disc’s Quick Shift Gearbox with patented clutch that can slow the propellers down to as low as 50 rpm.

 

To be able to profit from all advantages of EJS your boat must be equipped with BCS Bow Thrusters and Hydraulic Steering System.

 

An addition to the traditional joystick system called can be Express Positioning System (EPS) which enables skippers to maneuver their vessels to a desired position and heading and at the press of
a button
the system then controls automatically the propellers and proportional thrusters to maintain the desired position regardless of wind and tide conditions.

 

Twin Disc the EPS system is an option exclusively for shaft drive boat owners who have the company’s Express Joystick System (EJS) in place and it can be supplied with a new build or can be retro fitted.

 

The EPS operates off a roof mounted GPS receiver and has a color display at the main helm.
It enables boat owners to ‘virtually park’ their vessels in whatever position they like and the system will maintain station.
