Machines with ROTOFLUID fluid couplings are characterised by maximum reliability and durability. The couplings are installed between the engine (drive) and the machine (driven component). They essentially consist of two turbine blade wheels with opposing radial blades, one of which is connected to the motor shaft, the other to the input shaft of the machine.
 

The ROTOFLUID fluid coupling acts like a centrifugal coupling, whereby the oil from the driven turbine blade wheel is directed to the output side turbine blade wheel, thus transmitting the power to the output side shaft. The oil in the fluid coupling also serves to lubricate the moving parts in the coupling.
 

Fluid couplings are the simplest and most cost-effective method of designing a highly flexible driveline, as no mechanical connection is required between the motor and the driven device or machine. With no mechanical connection, there is virtually no wear.
